Appalachian Psychological Services for Kids (APS4Kids)

What was formerly known as APS4Kids is now part of the overarching ASU Psychology Clinic. While we can offer assessment of autism (through an ASU collaborative reached by calling 828-262-2185) and intellectual disability, we are currently unable to offer therapy services addressing specifically autism or intellectual disability. However, the mission of our team remains to provide family centered, solution-focused and evidence-based interventions for children and families. Some common problems that we address include:

  • Tantrums
  • Noncompliance
  • Aggression
  • Defiance
  • School refusal or school avoidance
  • Food refusal/food selectivity
  • Difficulties in school (e.g., distractibility, problems with work completion, poor peer relationships)

If you would like to learn more or to initiate services with the ASU Psychology Clinic, you can call the Clinic at 828-262-6639. If you would like to learn more or initiate an assessment for autism spectrum disorder (ASD), you can call the BCBSNC Institute for Health and Human Services at 828-262-2185 and find more information at
